Bali, Island of the Gods...and yummy delights!

Here's the Bakerwoman in Bali....enjoying The Sun, Sand & Sea in Dreamland Beach
My Rave for Bali - Babi Guling in Ibu Oka, Ubud

Hmm, this is the deep fried pig's skin, crispy & divine!

In this platter: deep fried pig's intestine, pig's blood, vegetables & spicy crispy suckling pig
    The Popular Ibu Oka.....
If you are heading to the Island of the God's......please try their famous Babi Guling in Ubud....this dish is simply divine and the crispiness, tender pork with added spices are delicious!

Nasi Goreng in MM Juice, Denpasar

Yummy Pork Satay in Kuta...I love the condiments served, instead of Ketupat, fried potatoes were served!

Bali Cider, with 4% alcohol or try their Bintang Beer

    Fried Noodles, Balinese Style

Deep Fried Seafood Platter In Excelso

    Sandwiches
Deep Fried Buntut (or Oxtail) in MM Juice, Denpasar

    Hmm, I love Buntut!

    Soup was served separately.....
Our friendly driver cum guide told me.....if you wanna eat the best buntut, deep fried style, it will be in Denpasar....
We headed to MM Juice for the best oxtail stew & deep fried oxtail served separately with soup and rice......

Food & Beverages in Bali is not cheap.......Seafood are very expensive....we had seafood dinner in Sungai Seafood, Kuta and crabs cost 315 000 Rupiah!!! which is equivalent to S$30 per plate per crab!!!
Balinese food is best consumed in Warungs......like Padang's........
A tinge of disappointment! I can't get any good cup of freshly brewed coffee in Bali! They are all the common coffee outlets you could find here in S'pore - StarBucks, Coffee Bean, Illy's......I want my Kalimanjaro or Sumatran Darjheeling!!!!
There are too many western food outlets as compared to the Warungs.......Best is to ask the locals where to locate the best Balinese cuisine........
Despite touring Denpasar, Seminyak, Kintamani, Kuta, I enjoyed Ubud! Not only is Babi Guling popular, the Ubuds are very artistic and creative people......Beautiful jewelleries (which I truly adores), paintings, handicrafts etc are found here.......you can find a mixture of Aussie aborigine art in Bali.....
Bali is very much bigger as compared to S'pore.........to complete the tours, I would recommend a week's stay in Bali........

After a sumptous ramen dinner in Parco Millenia Walk, the trio took a slow walk to Raffles City for dessert.
I had been reading Rezze's blog about Fruits Paradise (a cafe which specialises in tarts) and decided to try their yummy assorted tarts.
Love the Mixed Berries tart........$7.50 for a slice to & $78 for the whole tart.......

    Yam Bee Hoon Soup....

Love eating this yam bee hoon soup.....which my grams used to cook for me....
Diced yam, fried dried prawns, pork slices, shiitake mushrooms, cilantro and shallots were added to the soup. Lastly, its sedap with chilli padi or sambal belachan and lots of pepper into it!

Mee Hoon Kuey @ Cahaya, Far East Plaza

I love eating Mee Hoon Kwey with Kei Chee leaves...........the best I've tried was Cahaya Restaurant, in Far East Plaza, Level 5. This stall also serves the popular Uncle William's rojak...
Unfortunately, the rojak stall was closed today......being Good Friday.
